Dear Diary 9th September - “But Someone Has To Do It Tour”. Burghley to Blair, my daily diary of two weeks of top end equestrian sport from behind the lens. Blimey It’s Cold!!!
All signed up in the media centre and went for a walk around the Ian Stark designed Cross Country Course. Some interesting fences but very hilly. Walking the course in reverse order gives you the view as seen from a photographers angle and quite often you meet the riders on their course walk. One fence that did look good was the water splash sponsored Voltaire Designs and it was good to catch up with Sabine and Romain of Voltaire in the crowd at the Official Opening Ceremony. Voltaire rider Oliver Townend said Hello - figure he will be kicking his heels with only one ride over the weekend. Managed about half the course before heading back to the Media Centre to get ready for the trot up and felt quite warm after the exercise. The Trot Up at 3:00 was a different matter - it was really cold. I still find Trot Up’s a hit or miss affair and today was not a good day, so started shooting the riders in the funnel. Tomorrow is another day and first day of dressage. Some tight cropped images from today - a bit of a departure - comments and criticism accepted
