Dear Diary 31st August - “But Someone Has To Do It Tour”. Burghley to Blair, my daily diary of two weeks of top end equestrian sport from behind the lens. If it’s Bank Holiday Monday it must be I.T. Day!!
Today’s Plan A, Paragliding on the South Downs was cancelled due to unsuitable weather and Plan B photographing the Tall Ships coming down the Thames was a non starter also due to unsuitable weather [well it wasn’t windy, but wet and cold]. So spent a few hours transferring images off the laptop and preparing my caption templates, key words and code replacements. When wiring images for editorial and stock to the press and picture agencies, one of the key things is captioning the images accurately and quickly. It helps the news desks, who receive 1000’s of images daily, to select the appropriate image for their editorial which hopefully leads to a picture sale. Getting them on the wire before the other photographers is key. So like many other press photographers I have honed an elaborate system that inserts generic text into pictures by typing short cut commands. However, it does need to be set up before hand and I am pleased this piece is out of the way. Feeling pleased - Shame about the weather.
Thrills and Spills at Burghley. And.... Yes he did.
